Board Application

Basic requirements are as follows:

• No person employed by or receiving remuneration for services from this or any humane society, or who derives his/her livelihood of any significant income from the purchase, sale, use or commercial exploitation of animals, or whose employment or use of animals in his/her occupation any manner, may serve as a Director.
• Board members serve terms of three years.
• Attendance at least eight regular Board meetings per year. There are 11 regularly scheduled meeting per year as well as attendance at special events and board retreats.
• Each Director shall serve on at least one committee; attend committee meetings as well as special events and functions sponsored by the Society.
• Each Director shall volunteer time on projects such as fund-raising, publicity or education that benefit the Society and the welfare of animals in Siskiyou County.
• Directors must have access to computer communication.

Member responsibilities include:

Establishing policy, hiring and evaluating employees, securing funding, monitoring finances, creating and updating long-range planning for the organization, adopting policies and approving contracts as appropriate and selecting, supporting and periodically reviewing the organization's officers.
