Job Description - Treasurer - Siskiyou Humane Society

The job of the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Siskiyou Humane Society is to see that the financial aspects of the organization are in compliance with the State of California and the Federal Government to meet the regulations of a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Included in these duties are for: Volunteer Treasurer (sic)

  1. Picking up mail; all bills should be picked up by the 5th of the month to ready for payment before the 10th, unless specific bills must be paid before that date; sorting bills, checking for accuracy of bills, authorizing payment.
  2. Signing Checks, mailing bills.
  3. Picking up paperwork from the animal shelter on a timely basis, processing adoptions, releases, donations - showing amounts posted to correct accounts (set up spreadsheet for this), making deposit at bank for these, give deposit with spreadsheet to paid bookkeeper for posting in to correct amounts in QuickBooks.
  4. Purchasing requested needs from animal shelter employees for animal food, cleaning supplies, medical supplies, tags, leashes, needle disposal containers, office supplies, phone card, etc.
  5. Following up on requests for repairs to animal shelter.
  6. Following up on worker's compensation claims, getting proper forms filled out, calling State Compensation Insurance to file claim, informing staff of proper method of getting medical help for injury, reporting injury immediately, filing all paperwork regarding injury.
  7. Receiving all bank deposits from thrift stores - give to bookkeeper for posting to correct accounts, i.e. store sales, sales tax.
  8. Making sure animal shelter has appropriate change for adoptions and releases.
  9. Keeping accounts payable files in order.
  10. Pick up time cards at Shelter every other Monday, check hours, give to bookkeeper for payment of payroll by Wednesday.
